Xbox – Voice Search

With Xbox Kinect launched, focused switched to designing a system capable of searching for all media types across multiple sources, via voice, gesture, controller, and remote control.

GOALS:

  •  Deliver an integrated voice-based search

ACTIONS:

  • Defined the problem space, challenges, and design goals
  • Created low fidelity storyboards to illustrate concepts and designs for both search and content details layer
  • Juggled multiple stakeholders  and product requirements across various Microsoft departments (Bing, TellMe, Xbox)

RESULTS:

  • Delivered one of the industry’s first voice-based search systems capable of searching for movies, TV, games, and music across multiple providers/sources (e.g., Netflix, Vudu, Amazon)

Microsoft’s New Xbox 360 On Demand Offering Crowned ‘Winner of Winners’ at 2012 TV Innovation Awards

Microsoft Xbox 360 was named on Monday TV Innovator of the Year at the prestigious 2012 TV Innovation Awards ceremony, presided over by IMS Research. Microsoft won the On Demand Category for upgrades to its Xbox 360 console including partnerships with over 40 new TV and entertainment providers, as well as delivering entertainment voice search functionality with Bing on Xbox.

Microsoft beat 13 other category winners to take the ultimate ‘winner of winners’ accolade in the third annual ceremony, at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The 2012 TV Innovation Awards are one of the premier endorsements of innovation in television and recognize the most forward- thinking companies creating products and services that are changing the way people watch television.
